Ed Laginess is a multi-media artist based in Chicago, Illinois and South Haven, Michigan.

“My greatest satisfaction in being an artist comes from successfully capturing the grace and emotions of my subject.

“I love taking people to a different place even if it is for a fleeting moment. There is nothing more rewarding than when someone understands what I felt as I painted, and understands what attracted me to the subject.”

Chicago artist Ed Laginess received his degree from the University of Detroit/Mercy. He majored in Business and minored in Art and Art History. He has studied at Oxbow Arts Center, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Lillistreet Art Center.  He has also studied with various renowned artists in the US and Europe. He works in Oils and Acrylics, although he has considerable work in other mediums. Primarily showing in Midwest galleries in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, he has exhibited extensively throughout Chicagoland and Western Michigan.

The paintings are a visual reflection of the world around him and generally composed of studies in nature. The landscape and floral paintings have garnered many recognitions and awards. He gathers inspiration from being in the woods, the lakeshore and his extensive perennial garden. His ability to capture movement and emotion is one of his strengths.  His florals in oils, acrylics and watercolors have a equilibrium of beauty, graces and folly.  Ed is a member of the Chicago Association of Visual Artists, the Oil Painters of America, and the National Oil and Acrylics Society.

He served as President of board of the Beverly Art Center.  The Art Center is one of the largest centers of its kind in Midwest serving a wide variety of the arts to all ages.
